Why Aruba Should Be Your Next Caribbean Escape

If Aruba isn't already on your travel list, it's time to bump it to the top. Known as "One Happy Island," this Caribbean island has it all - stunning beaches, adventure-filled excursions, and great weather year-round. Whether you're looking for relaxation or action-packed activities, Aruba has something for everyone. Here's what to expect and a five-day itinerary to help you plan your perfect getaway.

The ABC Islands

Aruba is part of the ABC islands, along with Curacao and Bonaire. Aruba and Curaçao are fantastic destinations, each with its own unique charm. Aruba is a bit more expensive but offers easier access to attractions and is more built up for tourists. On the other hand, Curaçao provides more of a local charm at a lower price point, making it a great alternative for travelers looking for a more authentic Caribbean experience.

Another perk of visiting Aruba is the direct flight options from major U.S. cities. There are non-stop flights from places like New York, Miami, Atlanta, and Chicago, making it relatively easy to get to paradise without long layovers.

What to Expect in Aruba

Aruba stands out among Caribbean destinations due to its location near the equator, making it one of the driest islands in the region. This means you can usually expect sunny days and pleasant weather no matter when you visit. Recently, Aruba was also voted as having some of the bluest waters in the Caribbean.

Top Activities to Try in Aruba

While there are so many things to do, here are four of my favorite activities on the island:

Visit Flamingo Beach – This postcard-perfect beach is part of the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, a Marriott property. If you're staying at the resort, you get free access. However, if you're not a guest, there is a pretty big fee to visit. Despite the cost, it's a unique experience to relax on a stunning beach while mingling with the famous flamingos.

Take a Sunset Cruise – There’s no better way to take in Aruba’s beauty than from the water at sunset. Many cruises offer open bars and fun atmospheres, making this a must-do before an evening out.

Snorkeling & Scuba Diving – Aruba is home to incredible marine life and some of the coolest shipwrecks in the Caribbean. We decided to get PADI certified at the Aruba Water Sports Center and had a great experience. It was an amazing place to learn, and we would highly recommend doing it on a trip. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a first-time snorkeler, exploring the underwater world here is worth it.

Go on an ATV Tour – For a break from the beach, an ATV tour is the perfect way to explore Aruba’s rugged landscapes. These tours take you to hidden beaches, sand dunes, and dramatic coastal viewpoints, offering a thrilling adventure.
